This morning I managed to get out on the bike with my new Fuji Instax 210 Wide that I bought for work.

These aren’t great photos, I know, but I’m looking forward to riding in the mountains with this camera and seeing some instant prints while out in the middle of nowhere.

Chama, a nickname given to him by his daughter, moved to Aichi in central Japan from Kyushu in the west over twenty years ago due to a health issue. His wife died years ago and after the children left home he has been living alone. Last year he started growing his own vegetables.

Chama was introduced to me by his daughter and I’ve recently started trying to grow my own vegetables as well. I have no idea what I’m doing but luckily Chama is around to show me the ropes.

Eel Fishing

I was taken eel fishing a few weeks ago along the Kiso River in central Japan. Eel fishing involves baiting a line with numerous hooks at dusk, wading out into the middle of the river and laying the line, and then returning around midnight to check the catch. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t.

It was difficult to shoot in the conditions and I want to try a reshoot someday but in the meantime I’m content with these frames.
